Job Summary

Manage the safety, environmental, property protection, and workers’ compensation processes ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and Corporate requirements.


  • Manage the safety, environmental, property protection and workers’ compensation processes ensuring compliance with all State and Federal requirements.
  • Support the ACCO North America Group Safety & Environmental Vision, the Comprehensive Environmental & Safety Management Plan (CESMP) and other processes as required by the corporate Safety & Environmental Affairs department.  Continue with the ongoing development of a facility-specific CESMP.
  • Have a good knowledge of State and Federal safety and environmental laws.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and audit all applicable safety and environmental programs.
  • Coordinate the workers’ compensation claim management process both internally and with our outside workers’ compensation claims administrator and outside case management company to provide workers’ compensation benefits.  Ensure that occupationally injured teammates are being given the best medical attention and at the same time managing costs.
  • Obtain and keep current all necessary environmental permits and licenses (i.e. operational licenses, air permits, storm water permits, wastewater permits etc.)
  • Provide all necessary safety and environmental training to ensure compliance at a minimum.
  • Implement and maintain a behavioral based safety process.
  • Ensure that all property protection and life safety programs are developed, implemented and maintained.
  • Oversee and participate in investigations off all accidents and near misses to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Develop and implement a system to minimize or, where possible, eliminate waste generation, document and track progress
  • Track and ensure that injury and illness statistics and activity reports are reported to Corporate on a monthly basis.


  • College graduate (preferred) in safety, engineering, hard sciences, or related field and a minimum of five years of hands on safety and workers’ compensation experience in a manufacturing facility. Environmental experience a plus but not mandatory.
  • Solid problem solving skills and excellent communication and presenting skills necessary.
  • PC skills, which include Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access
  • Experience operating basic industrial hygiene equipment (i.e.; noise level meter, portable air sampling equipment etc.)
  • Up to 6% overnight travel required.
