Job Summary
To receive and store finished goods; to pick customer orders; to label, wrap, load pallets onto trucks for shipment, or stage pallets in designated areas; to process UPS/Fed Ex shipments.
Responsibilities
- Pick cartons and/or packages of product for customer orders according to pick list and customer requirements, verifying inventory levels as required. Available material handling equipment should be used for picking orders.
- Pack loose packages into master cartons.
- Label cartons and/or pallets and wrap loads as required.
- Enter data into computer terminals to meet warehouse management system and customer requirements.
- Load truck with palletized product, according to warehouse and customer requirements, completing all necessary paperwork.
- Transport finished stock into the warehouse(s) from various areas (manufacturing, unloaded trucks, etc.).
- Inspect quality of goods received or shipped and quality of trailers loaded or unloaded.
- Inspect quantity of goods received or shipped by comparing to pick list, packing list, and/or bill-of-lading.
- Move stock within the warehouse(s) for storage, replenishment, customer orders, or staging.
- Unload finished goods from trucks, combining/breaking down pallet loads as necessary, completing necessary paperwork to meet warehouse and customer requirements.
- Receive empty pallets when necessary.
- Process UPS/Fed Ex shipments.
- Comply with all safety policies (e.g. guard use, hearing protection, etc.), reporting any violation to immediate supervisor.
- Prepare daily record of work performed.
- Monitor inventory level of routinely used production materials and supplies, informing appropriate personnel of inventory needs.
- Change batteries of material handling equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand orders to accurately process customer orders.
- Ability to record work performed (manual and computer-based systems).
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to perform data entry on computers.
- Ability to understand warehouse management system, bills-of-lading, receipts, carton labels, and other related information.
- Ability to independently complete tasks as assigned by others.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, production workers, and warehouse personnel to provide or obtain information, and to resolve count and location discrepancies.
- Ability to operate various material handling equipment, e.g. fork truck, reach truck, tugger, man-up order picker, and hand truck.
- Ability to use film wrap and pallet stretch wrappers.
- Knowledge would normally be acquired through a high school degree or equivalent program.
