Job Summary
To operate Envelope Machine and prepare envelopes for shipping.
Responsibilities
- Forms shipping cartons.
- Removes envelopes from discharge box in quantities to be boxed, using offset envelopes as guides, as required for certain count ranges and box style.
- Forms and places required envelopes into folding box as required for certain count ranges and box style.
- Closes folding box and places required number of folding boxes into carton.
- Packs econo-boxes or manually filled boxes into cartons from discharge table.
- Runs shipping cartons through 3M Taper and asides to pallet as necessary.
- Checks envelopes once per carton to ensure proper quality, notifying adjuster of any needed adjustments.
- Cleans machine every roll change.
- Monitors machines for possible jams, removing jammed envelopes and/or notifying adjusters as necessary.
- Keeps econo-box hopper full.
- Opens bundles of shipping cartons as necessary.
- Repacks envelopes as necessary to ensure acceptable quality of trays.
- Writes AB tags.
- Complies with all safety policies (e.g. guard use, hearing protection, etc.), reporting any violation to immediate supervisor.
- Prepares daily record of work performed.
- Monitors inventory level of routinely used production materials and supplies, informing appropriate personnel of inventory needs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge would normally be acquired through a high school degree or equivalent program.
- Ability to read and apply content of warnings, job tickets, labels, notes, display panel as well as operating manuals and other related information to operate equipment to produce a quality product.
- Ability to write to record work performed daily and to complete AB tags.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic to count boxes.
- Ability to independently complete tasks as assigned by others.
- Ability to communicate to discuss problems with adjusters and supervisory personnel.
- Ability to use tipper, hand jacks, handling equipment, glue guns, tape guns, rags, pail.
