Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join our GBC business unit, the premier supplier of Print Finishing Solution supplies and equipment, in the Calgary, Alberta area. For more than 60 years, our print finishing solutions have served a broad range of document communication needs for businesses worldwide. Our products and services in this category are critical to our customers in distinguishing their printed materials and achieving a professional edge in today’s competitive market.


Reporting to the National Field Service Manager, this position is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on industry leading GBC, Duplo, MBM, etc. branded electro-mechanical products.  Products such as laminators, booklet makers, folders, punch and bind equipment, and shredders that are used in Commercial and Production Printing, Offices and Schools. 

 

  

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer requests for equipment repair
  • Utilize all of the tools and training necessary to inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical 
  • components of our wide format lamination, binding, booklet making, folding and cutting equipment
  • Install or assist in the installation of equipment and train customers on product use
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment to high standards and to the satisfaction of customers
  • Responsible for a service revenue quota, consisting of the timely completion of time and material calls and the selling of Equipment Maintenance Agreements and consumables to customers

Qualifications

  • College or Technical School Diploma in an electrical/electronic and/or mechanical field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years field service experience in the repair of electrical and/or mechanical equipment is required 
  • Experience in print finishing solutions or within the printing or photocopier industry considered an asset
  • Must have professional presence and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with customers at all levels 
  • Excellent customer service, communication and time management skills 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Minimal overnight travel necessary; must be able to travel to United States for training purposes
  • Able to lift up to 60lbs on a consistent basis and must be physically capable of performing all duties and work assigned
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office products and comfortable using computers
  • Must own a vehicle; reimbursed for business kilometers driven
  • Must feel comfortable with demonstrating and installing equipment as well as training users
