Job Summary
ACCO Brands is seeking a Director, Business Analytics. ACCO Brands is undergoing a strategic transformation across the globe to move from a Product to Consumer-centric organization. To achieve this, we must put the consumer and our brands at the center of our efforts. The Director of Business Analytics will serve an important role in helping achieve this transformation. This leader will be tasked with expanding the business analytics function. This will include in-depth Customer and POS analysis, MMA oversight, and the establishment of a uniform North American volume planning process. This role will report to the Head of Insights & Analytics for North America and will be responsible for managing and developing an established team and expanding resources as needed to achieve business goals.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute analytics strategy. Lead the development and implementation of a multi-year roadmap comprised of people, process, and technology.
- Blend data, research, analytics, and business acumen to provide actionable insights that will grow the business. Areas of immediate focus will include POS/ consumption analysis, pricing, forecasting & demand planning, marketing effectiveness, and portfolio optimization.
- Lead POS/Consumption analysis across the portfolio of brands spanning the School, Dated and Office Products categories (NPD/ IRI market data and retailer sell-through data)
- Establish a uniform “bottoms up” volume planning process by brand across all North American businesses inclusive of price elasticities, category calls, distribution and competitive impacts, macro-economic factors, etc.
- Improve analytic approaches, establish uniform KPIs and dashboarding and lead a formalized reporting process
- Define and deploy critical business KPI metrics. Construct clear report reporting standards, dashboards, and predictive models to optimize those metrics.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of business and category analysts in the development of analytical tools and processes. Place high emphasis on building well-rounded skills and capabilities throughout the team.
- Drive the pipeline for business analytics efforts. Translate unstructured, complex business problems into well-defined projects.
- Define and partner closely with IT team to develop the data and technology infrastructure that will best facilitate effective analysis and positively impact the business.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years in a strategic analytics marketing role; 3+ years in CPG company preferred; Direct retail sector experienced preferred
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a team of business analysts
- Mastery in developing solutions using large volumes of data; creating descriptive and prescriptive analytical models using and using applied statistical analysis such as regression, clustering, neural networks, etc.
- Mastery of price elasticities required, experience with vendor price model tools preferred.
- Mastery of volume planning modeling (Demand Planning modeling) required
- Experience overseeing MMA vendors and analyzing and applying outputs to volume planning.
- Expert-level experience in business intelligence and visualization toolkits such as Power BI and Tableau. (Tableau required)
- Expert- level experience in data analytics tools such as Qlik, R, Python, SAS
- Must have experience with syndicated data sources (such as IRI, NPD) as well as customer sales data and its application to, not only business analysis, but volume planning.
- Experience with big data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or SAP S4 Hana. (S4 Hana preferred)
- Exceptional communicator (verbal and written) - Ability to tell a story, synthesize and convey key messages and present in a visual and compelling way
- Problem solving skills including abstract reasoning, cause/effect analysis and innate curiosity
- Must demonstrate both analytical and creative thinking abilities
- Local candidates only, must be able to work onsite 3 days a week (Monday- Wednesday).
- % OF TRAVEL REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: 15% - 25%
